Diego and Stale Sandwiches

Today is Sunday (Domingo) and Samuel has enjoyed watching his favorite show Go Diego Go.  We went to the park this morning and realized Sundays are very quiet around here (usually it's very noisey with cars, motorcycles, people and so busy it's hard to cross the street without getting hit by a car), so we thought Sundays were great until we realized everything was closed!  Which was fine until dinner time when we were looking forward to some "real food".  We had enough for breakfast and lunch in our room, but did not plan on having stale bread and jelly for dinner.  Samuel did not seem to mind, but Jeff was not amused. Tomorrow is a holiday, so I'm not sure what to expect.  The grocery store here does not have a nice deli like we do at home, so if you do not have a kitchen there's not much except bread, milk and snack food.

Today Samuel took a good nap, so Jeff did some work (of course the internet works on his day off) and I did some laundry (by hand).   It's actually not as bad as I thought it would be and it gives me something to do:)  I also spent time translating the journal I have for Samuel, so I'm finding out more.  I thought he has been with his foster mom since he was 8 months old, but actually he was closer to one year and 5 months.  He must have been in the hospital for awhile and then possibly some type of orphanage before he was placed with her.  I'll have my brother see if he can translate the beginning of the journal because it is in not so good hand writing, fortunately his foster mom did have nice hand writing and I can read her jounal entries (once I translate that is).  He was only 13 pounds at 9 months old, verses the average which is around 20 pounds.  His foster mom took him to physical therapy for his legs and he is walking and running now.  We do notice his arm strength is weaker than it should be, but we can get him some therapy to help strengthen those muscles when we get home.  Considering his first year of life, I would say he is doing Amazing!  We love him so much and I think he feels the same:)   When we skyped with the kids tonight they were excited to see him wearing the Beatles shirt they got him.  I can tell they are really excited to meet him.  Dalton made him a card that says Samuel Rocks!
